Jitter Analysis with the R&S®RTO
Digital Oscilloscope
The AppNote presents the capabilities of the R&S®RTO-K12 Jitter Analysis option for the R&S®RTO Digital Oscilloscope with respect to the jitter analysis of data and clock signals. In the following, the term R&S®RTO Digital Oscilloscope will be abbreviated as RTO and the R&S®RTO-K12 Jitter analysis option as RTO-K12 for simplified reading. Digital interfaces have become predominant in electronic design with the rise of the digital computer and the associated digital signal processing and digital transmission. Though digital signals are more robust and less susceptible to disturbances than analog signals, the trend to increase the data rate and clock speed reduces the timing margin for these signals.
